Last week’s federal budget came and went with no shortage of debate and commentary on everything ranging from housing and immigration to taxes and inflation. But there was no debate over the budget’s clear and unequivocal government support for nuclear.
Though there were relatively few new commitments for nuclear, this year’s budget made it clear over and over again that nuclear is a key strategic interest for Canada – to give a rough idea of how important, the word nuclear is mentioned 41 times in Budget 2024, compared to 9 in 2023, 4 in 2022, and only 1 in 2021.
