SUMMARY:CNS CANDU REACTOR TECHNOLOGY & SAFETY COURSE 2024
DESCRIPTION:Click here for the 2024 CNS technology and safety course brochure\n\n\n\nClick Here to Register\n\n\n\nSorry the registration to this course has been closed as we have reached the maximum room capacity. If you indeed want to attend the course this March\, please email to Wei at wei.shen@candu.org to have your name included on the waiting list. You would be informed if a bigger room were made available for the course. But there is no guarantee and the chance is not that high. The good news is that the course will likely be offered again\, in March 2025. Please consider registering early next time to avoid disappointment! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCourse Overview\n\n\n\nThis CNS course will present an extensive overview of the important disciplines in CANDU  reactor technology and safety. The course  provides an introduction to the basic design\, technology\, and operation of nuclear reactors. It  will also present the major systems in a nuclear  plant\, as well as the important CANDU reactor  safety principles and systems. How to prepare  and execute safety analysis to meet licensing  demands will also be discussed.   \n\n\n\nThe CNS is presenting this course to enhance  the professional and technical capabilities of its  members (and non-members) working in\, or  interested in\, the nuclear industry. The course is  ideally suited for beginning professionals\, but  also beneficial to experienced professionals.  Come broaden your nuclear knowledge beyond  your specific area of work and your own area of  expertise.   \n\n\n\nThis course is eligible for Continuing Education  Units in the context of the Engineering Institute  of Canada Continuing Education program.  \n\n\n\nContinental breakfast\, buffet lunch\, and coffee  breaks are provided each day. There will also be  a banquet on the second evening of the course\,  with an after-dinner speech highlighting a timely  topic in the Canadian Nuclear industry.  \n\n\n\nTentative topics to be covered in the course: \n\n\n\n∙ CANDU Design  \n\n\n\n∙ Thermalhydraulics Fundamentals \n\n\n\n∙ Reactor-Physics Fundamentals  \n\n\n\n∙ Radiation Safety   \n\n\n\n∙ Nuclear Steam Supply System  \n\n\n\n∙ CANDU Fuel Fundamentals  \n\n\n\n∙ Fuel & Fuel-Channel Safety   \n\n\n\n∙ Role of Nuclear Regulation Safety \n\n\n\n∙ Analysis and Trip Coverage  \n\n\n\n∙ CANDU Safety Design  \n\n\n\n∙ Experiments and Computer Codes \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nObjectives of the course\n\n\n\n\nTo provide an introduction to CANDU technology and reactor safety\n\n\n\nTo present safety-analysis principles\n\n\n\nTo provide an overview of the major CANDU systems\n\n\n\nTo foster nuclear safety culture\n\n\n\nTo network with colleagues in the industry\n\n\n\n\nLecturers\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDr. Wei Shen\, Fellow of CNS\n\n\n\nClick here to see lecturer’s bio \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDr. Ben Rouben\, Fellow of CNS\n\n\n\nClick here to see lecturer’s bio \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nProf. Glenn Harvel\n\n\n\nClick here to see lecturer’s bio \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRicky Khaloo\, MSc.
