SUMMARY:17th International Topical Meeting on Nuclear Reactor Thermal Hydraulics
DESCRIPTION:The Best Estimate Plus Uncertainty (BEPU) approach is the final outcome of research and\ndevelopment in nuclear system thermal-hydraulics; this is also the tip of the iceberg of \ncompetence in nuclear thermal-hydraulics or a cross-way into the thermal-hydraulics \nuniverse \nBEPU shall also be seen as an industrial product ready for applications in nuclear \ntechnology. \nThe BEPU aims at making feasible the application of nuclear thermal-hydraulics to the \nlicensing and the safety evaluation processes of Nuclear Power Plants (NPP). The features \nof BEPU are such to make attractive the application to address any design and operational \nissue in NPP technology

McCarthy\, Vice-President\, Research & Development\, of Canadian Nuclear Laboratories. Dr. McCarthy will be giving a presentation on the 10-Year Plan for Science and Technology Activities at the Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL). \nThe CNL recently completed a 10-Year Plan that lays out an exciting vision that builds on the long and proud history of nuclear science and technology that began in Canada with the Chalk River Laboratories in the 1940’s. CNL’s diverse capabilities have contributed to the full spectrum of nuclear technology in Canada: mining\, fuel production\, reactor design\, nuclear power generation\, decommissioning\, remediation\, waste management\, nuclear medicine\, materials science\, imaging\, nuclear safety\, regulation and governance.  This presentation will discuss the 10-Year Plan vision and the path to realizing it\, and highlight recent accomplishments.  A short biography of Dr. McCarthy is attached. \nSo please be sure to join us at this fine venue for this prestigious event\, the first CNS Ottawa Branch event of the fall season!
