DESCRIPTION:The New Brunswick Branch of the Canadian Nuclear Society is pleased to offer an informal mixer and lecture in uptown Saint John on nuclear capabiities and future prospects.  Please join us on June 8\, 2016\, at 5:15 pm at the Worley Parsons Offices at 91 Canterbury Street! \nOur speaker will be: \nRob Whalen Senior Vice President\, Engineering\, Intellectual Property & Technology SNC Lavalin Nuclear/Candu Energy Inc.  \nRob Whalen is responsible for all engineering activities in SNC-Lavalin’s Nuclear business unit. In this capacity\, he leads a team of over 800 nuclear steam plant and balance of plant engineers dedicated to the highest standards in the industry. Rob oversees all engineering activities including tooling and refurbishment tooling engineering as well as the development of CANDU® reactors. \n Before joining SNC-Lavalin in 2015\, Rob was most recently Vice President\, Nuclear Engineering for Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) in the United States. While there\, he transformed the Nuclear power group engineering from a reference source model to a highly valued technical team\, while leading significant improvement in equipment reliability and resolution of significant historical regulatory issues. Rob was instrumental in building a strong technical conscience in the Engineering organization at TVA and in developing a strong and diverse leadership team focussed on collaborative leadership and industry best practices.
