DESCRIPTION:Contents\n\nBackground\nPapers\nRegistration\nImportant Dates\nHotels\nMore Information\nSponsors\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n \nBackground\nTop of Page\nA greater use of nuclear energy will be required to achieve sustainable emissions-free energy production and energy use while economically meeting the requirements of security of supply (energy independence) and growing demand.  Nuclear energy will continue to make a substantial contribution to meet the world’s energy needs based on the sound foundation of existing reactor technology\, infrastructure and resources (natural resources and human capital).  To ensure that nuclear energy can contribute its full potential\, reactor and related nuclear technologies\, in particular nuclear fuel cycles\, must continue to evolve.  Heavy Water Reactor (HWR) technology is uniquely suited to respond to the future needs because of its inherent technical characteristics and associated fuel cycle flexibility.  With the looming renaissance of nuclear power\, major plans for new builds have been established or considered in many countries. In cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)\, the Canadian Nuclear Society (CNS) is organizing the International Conference on the future of HWR (HWR-Future).  This conference is aimed at providing a forum for discussion of advancements and issues\, sharing information and technology transfer\, and establishing future collaborations on reactor design\, fuel design\, material and chemistry\, thermal-hydraulics and safety\, and operating experience for HWRs.  The official language of the symposium is English. \nPapers\nTop of Page\nCall for Papers announcement (June 10 2011) \nTechnical Topics\nPapers related to the following topics are of interest to SUMMARY:International Conference on Mathematics and Computational Methods Applied to Nuclear Science and Engineering (M&C 2011)
DESCRIPTION:The International Conference on Mathematics and Computational Methods applied to Nuclear Science and Engineering (MC 2011) is a part of a series of topical meetings organized by the Mathematics and Computation Division of the American Nuclear Society (ANS) and this 2011 version is promoted by the Latin American Section (LAS). \nAs humankind seeks abundant and environmentally responsible energy in the coming decades\, the renaissance of nuclear power will undoubtedly become reality as it is a proven technology and has the potential to generate virtually limitless energy with no greenhouse gas emissions during operations. In addition\, basic research and nuclear technology applications in chemistry\, physics\, biology\, agriculture\, health and engineering have been showing their importance in the innovation of nuclear technology applications with sustainability.  \nMC 2011 will provide an international forum to scientists from around the world to present their most recent work and exchange ideas on a powerful class of methodologies extensively used for solving mathematical models of physical phenomena and processes applied to nuclear science and engineering. One of the aims is to promote new research tools and procedures that help link Mathematics\, Applied Sciences and Technology. Therefore\, the MC 2011 will offer an opportunity for direct information exchange between participants from both academia and industry.  \nBeing held in Brazil\, MC 2011 provides a forum to cellebrate the 10th Anniversary of Angra 2 Nuclear Power Unit commercial operation startup on February 1\, 2001\, located in Angra dos Reis city\, state of Rio de Janeiro.  \nParticipation in the MC 2011 will also provide an opportunity to visit Rio de Janeiro\, the wonderful city\, which is the mosaic of enchantments scattered between the sea and the mountains. \nThe interdisciplinary MC 2011 technical program will consist of plenary sessions\, workshops\, parallel oral presentation sessions and poster sessions.  \nPapers are solicited in the following subject categories: \n– Accelerator and Subcritical Systems– Advanced Nuclear Reactor Concepts– Atmospheric and Ocean Radiative Transfer– Computational Fluid Dynamics and Thermal Hydraulics– Deterministic and Stochastic Neutral and Charged Particle Transport Modeling– High-Fidelity Multiphysics Simulations– Medical Physics– Nuclear Chemistry– Nuclear Criticality Safety– Nuclear Data Evaluation and Application– Nuclear Fuel Cycle– Nuclear Fuels– Nuclear Geophysics– Nuclear Materials Sciences– Nuclear Non-Proliferation and Homeland Security– Nuclear Production of Hydrogen– Nuclear Radiation Shielding and Dosimetry– Nuclear Reactor Analysis– Optimization\, Data Assimilation and Artificial Intelligence– Plasma Physics/Fusion– Radiobiology– Structural Mechanics– Uncertainty Quantification– Verification and Validation

SUMMARY:Indian Nuclear Society 2nd International Conference on ?Asian Nuclear Prospects 2010" (ANUP 2010)
DESCRIPTION:It is recognized that a substantial growth in nuclear energy would take place in the Asian region in the coming decades. Close interactions between Asian countries and the leading countries in the western world would be essential to drive the development in Asia\, utilizing innovative nuclear technologies to meet the demands of clean energy and sustainability. \nDuring the conclusion of the first international workshop on “Asian Nuclear Prospects 2008” in Japan\, it was decided to conduct the next International Conference on Asian Nuclear Prospects in India. Thus “Asian Nuclear Prospects (ANUP 2010)” is the second in a series of international conferences designed to foster the growth of nuclear energy in Asia. Apart from the Asian countries\, the conference organisers would make efforts to attract active participation from European countries as well as USA\, Russia\, Canada\, and others. Special efforts are also being made to integrate countries with new energy initiatives in Asia\, such as Indonesia\, Malaysia\, Singapore\, Vietnam\, Egypt\, etc. \nThe meeting would provide young Asian scientists and engineers a forum to interact with and learn from world experts in nuclear technology; this is one of the main objectives of ANUP 2010. Several technical sessions focusing on nuclear energy and technologies with plenary and invited presentations by eminent professionals in the field are planned\, in addition to poster sessions and presentation by young authors. Support of TWAS\, OECD\, IAEA and nuclear societies of other Asian countries have also been solicited.

The nuclear energy regains more and more the recognition of its importance in the energy mix of developed countries\, but increasing public trust and acceptance is still necessary. \nThe previous conferences revealed the international research efforts to solve the scientific and technical issues regarding the most competitive systems of nuclear reactors and the problems that affect or limit the acceptance of nuclear power: safety\, waste management and environmental protection\, ensuring a high professional performance of the staff involved in this area. \nImportant Deadlines\nFebruary 26\, 2010 – Abstract submission and registrationMarch 15\, 2010 – Notification for paper acceptanceApril 16\, 2010 – Full papers submissionApril 30\, 2010 – Paper acceptance \nTopics\nThe conference agenda will examine and explore the following topics: \nI. Nuclear Energy \n\nNuclear Safety and Severe Accidents \nNuclear Reactors \nNuclear Technologies and Materials\n\nII.
